Ground Storage Tank (GST)

Description

The Highway 3 project replaced the existing ground storage tank and booster pumps originally owned by Gulf Coast Water Authority and subsequently purchased by the City of League City.  A 42-inch line in Highway 3 from the southeast plant terminates in this booster station.  This project increased the storage to 2,000,000 gallons from 500,000 gallons, replaced all booster pumps and pump building, and automated the entire control system to function based on demands placed on the distribution system.  New metering of the incoming water was installed to track actual usage as the City was limited by contract on the daily amount used from the City of Houston.  A bond issue for Capital Improvements was issued to make these improvements. Today the system works exactly as planned and provided the required pressures with substantial storage during water outage or interrupted supply events out of the control of the City.
